I really want to know why people get so worked up about threads that they aren't even involved in, enough to move them around, or complain that they're pointless, etc.,

Well, "Unfiction T-Shirt Design Contest!" runs a very distant second with 108. The only other triple digit post thread is "GMail Invites" with 101.It's possible that some threads have made it out of this particular purgatory and gone on to bigger and better things, but I'd bet my last Twinkie that no thread with 555 posts has ever been placed here. In fact, can a thread with 555 posts, a trailhead w/ over 100 signups, a wiki and a clear purpose (not to mention three topics) really be called sundry? It certainly doesn't fit as being "Various."
In fact, isn't the success of this thread the real issue? The only threads that approach this one's poplarity on News and Rumors are Project Rivard (Losing posters fast), Hurts to Heal (coming on strong), VITD (Just unstickied and imploded), Dunder Mifflin Infinity? (seven months) and the stickies. Pastry Wars has generated more interest in three weeks than many ARGs do throughout their entire run.

Well, I don't think this warrants a move back to News and Updates. I was actually kind of expecting the bump, to be honest. But I'd agree with pancito. Despite the fact that there is no real ARG here, there is a huge dose of meme and culture in this thread.

Look, I'm really sorry. Honestly, I read the first page and the last few pages of this thread. The impression that I got was that a mistaken trailhead had turned into silliness. I like silliness, but I know that 30-some pages of silliness is supposed to be in V&S, not N&R. (I know, I know, I'm OCD with organization.)
I asked several times whether or not this was an actual ARG before moving it, and based on the responses I received I honestly thought that the move was justified. I guess I should've read the middle 30-some pages of the thread before I did that: it seems that, based on the PMs I've received, this game is legit and it is going to launch in the near future.
This move was not meant to say that this thread is pointless; on the contrary, this move was made to put the thread in what I believed to be the correct forum. I'm not saying that it was a "waste of space" in N&R; I just didn't think that it belonged there. It appears that I was mistaken, and for that I apologize. I don't have mod privledges in V&S, but I'll contact someone who does and have this thread moved back into N&R as soon as possible.
(Honestly, I am just trying to keep things in their place, and a 30-page, unstickied thread in N&R sticks out like a sore thumb. I wanted to move it to the place where it's purpose could be best suited, and I meant no offense to anyone. Again, my apologies to the players and PMs of this game.)
The thread was later, indeed, moved to Various and Sundry and a new, game focused thread started.
